“While the issue of gender…has taken a back seat in the mainstream conversation, black feminists have been keeping the intersectional analysis alive in their coverage and commentary. Here is a sampling of voices, including queer, trans and gender non-conforming feminist perspectives.” Over the last few weeks it’s been interesting to see the many conversations surrounding Ferguson’s situation. This piece highlights black women’s activist voices, and we can learn a lot from their perspectives. Despite the horrible circumstances, this is an opportunity to spark a conversation, and these feminists’ voices need to be lifted up as much as possible.
