“Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.” Psalm 19:12 Today I celebrate my 75th birthday and my problem today is the same that it was when I first found Christ - learning to call sin what it is and confessing it before God. People often ask older people, “What have you learned that you can pass on to those who are younger and following in your footsteps?” The answer is both (1) simple and (2) complex. It is simple for this reason: (1) all I need to know is the next step. I don’t need to be able to see all the way to the end of the path. I just need to know the next step (Psalm 119.11). How foolish for us to think that God does not know about our SECRET faults. The best thing I have learned is that I need to confess sin as soon as I know about it. I need to call it what it is. And I need to walk away from the temptation to do it again. Just my thoughts …
