*Why is She here? The breeze blows her long brown hair back, and the sunlight turns her dark eyes to pewter. I’d almost forgotten how richly beautiful Lyanna is, but why is she here? The question makes my head ache. She smiles at me and beckons, moving gracefully away. I try to follow but nothing seems to work anymore. The woman-child suddenly frowns, then walks back to me and kneels at my side. I am afraid to breathe, indeed it hurts to breathe, but her gentle hand touches my face, by the old gods, she IS real and looks just as I remember her all those years ago. I can only stare into the lovely eyes of the one woman I ever loved. I close my eyes and hear her voice, ‘You must stay here Jory, there are those who need you, rest my dear, but do not give up hope, never give up hope.’ At her words I open my eyes and can only stare at that beloved face, the lush, full lips and the faint dusting of freckles across her nose and cheeks. “I want to go with you.” I find the courage to say the words I never dared say to her in life, “I love you Lyanna, I always have.” I want to pull her into my arms, but no longer seem part of a body, merely pain and longing. Her fingers brush the hair back from my face, lingering at my temples, “I know Jory, I’ve always known, but it was never meant to be, someday you shall understand, and I love you as well.” As the blackness claims me, the last thing I feel is the touch of her sweet lips on mine.*
