“Why to do it?” or “How to do it?” Why do people persist - TopicsExpress

“Why to do it?” or “How to do it?” Why do people persist on driving themselves to confusion and insanity by looking for the answers to the questions which Allaah تعالى has not allowed them to know? When a command comes from Allaah and His Messenger, the Believer should not be concerned with the question: “WHY to do it?”, rather he is the one to comply with: “HOW to do it?” Allaah تعالى says: {It is not for a Believer, man or woman, when Allaah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in a plain error.} [Surah al-Ahzaab (33): 36] Questions like: *Why do we need to have Whudu before each prayer? *Why are the Fajr, Maghrib and `Ishaa prayers prayed audibly whereas Dhuhr and `Asr are not? *Why do we pray 4 Rak`aat each for Dhuhr, `Asr and `Ishaa and not for Fajr and Maghrib? These are not the types of questions which should overwhelm our thoughts and time. A lesson from our history is the incident of the changing of the direction of the Qiblah from Masjid al-Aqsa to Masjid al-Haraam. The Believers, when they came to know about this command, immediately changed their direction, but the idolaters, hypocrites and people of the Book where more concerned about the reason behind this change. Allaah تعالى said: {The fools among the people will say: “What has turned them (the Muslims) from their Qiblah (prayer direction towards Jerusalem) to which they used to face in prayer.” Say (O Muhammad!): “To Allaah belong both, east and the west. He guides whom He wills to the straight way.” * Thus We have made you (Believers) a Wasat (just and the best) nation, so that you be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) be a witness over you. AND WE MADE THE QIBLAH WHICH YOU USED TO FACE, ONLY TO TEST THOSE WHO FOLLOWED THE MESSENGER FROM THOSE WHO WOULD TURN ON THEIR HEELS (i.e., DISOBEY THE MESSENGER). Indeed it was great (heavy, difficult) except for those whom Allaah guided. And Allaah would never make your faith (prayers) to be lost. Truly, Allaah is full of kindness, the Most Merciful} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 142-143] [See Tafseer of Ibn Katheer رحمه الله for a full explanation of the whole incident]
