*** Winter Precipitation Still on the Way...but perhaps more rain and freezing rain and less snow. *** A deepening low pressure area is still expected to track northeastward from the central and eastern Gulf of Mexico toward the Mid-Atlantic coast by Saturday afternoon. This system will bring a variety of inclement weather to our region...rain east of the Blue Ridge...but a mixture of snow/sleet/freezing rain/rain to the west. There has been a slight warming trend noted among the computer models we use...which could lead to more sleet and/or freezing rain and less snow. Here are the latest advisories and amounts of snow and ice expected through Saturday. For next week...there will be a trend to colder temperatures as a deep upper trough develops across the eastern U.S...similar to a couple of weeks ago. An Alberta Clipper Sunday and Monday will herald the change to colder temperatures and will also bring a chance of snow to areas west of the Blue Ridge. Below normal temperatures and repeated chances for mountain snow showers are expected throughout much of next week even after Monday.
