~~~Winter Storm Update~~~ A strong storm system is still expected to affect the area late Saturday night into Sunday. The precipitation will fall as mainly snow from the Katahdin region north where right now it looks like accumulations of 5 to 8 inches. Down East, the snow will likely mix with and change to rain Sunday morning with a few inches of snow possible before the changeover. The storm is still a few days out, so please continue to monitor the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service at weather.gov/car Prior to the storm, a strong cold front will cross the area Thursday night into early Friday morning. We expect snow showers across northern Maine with this front, and there is the potential for a gusty squall late Thursday night across the Crown of Maine that could produce a quick inch or two of snow with gusty wind and poor visibility. Once the storm system over the weekend moves out the coldest air mass of the winter will move into northern New England early next week!
