At least on the calendar it does... Spring is a time of planning and planting, of greening and growing, of color and texture. The air warms and we, along with the rest of life, emerge from our hibernation to move again, to engage the world and to be engaged. What about your creative life? Have you been active or has it been a time of winter? If its been the latter, then its sometimes hard to get back into your groove again. Heck...its hard to even remember what a creative groove is. And thats when the left brain is at the peak of its powers. The wisdom will appear to convince you that were you any kind of creative, there would never have been a fallow period. See? your inner critic says, what have you written lately? You are not a writer. You are just a dreamer. And a lot of people become discouraged as the evidence is laid out before them. But that is exactly when we need to turn and listen to the calling of our hearts, a calling that existed before we took our first steps, put together our first words, colored our first drawing, sang our first song. Conventional wisdom will whisper that we are not artists. But we have to be willing to be open to the universe, an energy that says we are everything, that our art is everything. Our art is that which connects us from one to another but, even more important, connects us...to us. My dear friend and creative partner, Carolyn Flynn, has a wonderful saying that the universe will support you even when the world doesnt. I love that. I believe it. Sometimes the world will not acknowledge or support your creativity but the universe always will. The muse operates from the realm of passion, from a basis of love in the broadest and most expansive sense of the word. Creativity is passion. It is illogical, and hopeful. It is infinite and extends from the deepest point of your soul to the farthest reaches of eternity, without boundaries. It screams of possibilities and what-ifs. And it is calling you out to play today. Just like Spring. Have a lovely week fellow Knights!
