With 390 km of designated bike lanes, Copenhagen takes its cycling seriously. The city has a special Cycle Super Highway for commuting, since 37 percent of its residents ride to work or school each morning, and the recently opened Cycle Snake provides pedestrians and cyclists with an exclusive route across the city’s harbor. Schools in Copenhagen participate in cycling campaigns to bring traffic-safety lessons to children. In fact, most kids know the basics of city riding by the time they’ve reached kindergarten.
