“Women have a right to safe spaces on campus: signs like these - TopicsExpress

“Women have a right to safe spaces on campus: signs like these make it clear that priorities seem to lie with the small percentage of trans people rather than the larger female student body.” “I can’t say its anti-feminist, because I’m sure people in the LGBT[+] society identify themselves as feminists. But it seems anti-woman.” After the unexpected viral success of the poster campaign, which - bar the original spelling mistake - may have its drawbacks such as neglecting the wordings potential condoning of unwanted (most likely) cismen into women only spaces, but doesnt the above statement reacting to it seem trans-exclusionary? In that it makes out that trans-women (at least to the above commenter) are not women? I understand that for some non binary and trans individuals, gendered bathrooms are a particular struggle and barrier in the way of exploring or asserting genderhood. I also acknowledge that some women may feel threatened by those who appear to be male (those assigned male at birth) entering a womens space, but surely in this specific instance highlighted by the commenter, trans women are still well, you know...women? I am entirely fallible, so if my own understanding is flawed, please call me out on it.
