“Yes, we’re in financial difficulties,” (Patsy Keever) said. “I think when we have a change in leadership, we will be able to bring it back to where it needs to be.” Patsy Keever is currently 1st VC of the NCDP and has been for most of Randy Vollers term during this past election cycle. She is therefor part of the party leadership now. If she becomes Chairman, that is not a real change in leadership. Is she saying she will start taking her role as a leader more seriously? As first VC, her duties were specifically assigned to her by the Executive Council. First and foremost she was to raise money for the party, that is her role, her job, her responsibility, and always has been. If she becomes chair, how will this change in her status make this suddenly possible if she is not doing so right now? Is she saying she refused or failed to do her job during the last election cycle, but now a change in her title on Feb. 7 will change her success in fundraising? Either she was refusing to do the job she was elected to do before, or she will be unable to do it as chair, as well. With the loss of tax check-off money, the NCDP budget lost $1.5 million. What does she envision as where we need to be for the Democratic Party in North Carolina without that money? How does she propose to raise it, since she has failed until now to do so? Closing with this cryptic statement by Patsy Keever is very odd.
