Yesterday, I was implanted with a trial neurostimulator. They took a needle and shoved some leads into my back that come out and fasten to a cord that attaches to a unit about the size of a pager. So, I have a tail for a week. (And, no showers, bending, stooping, squatting or raising my hands over my shoulders.) The remote allows me to adjust up and down, left and right and its the strangest sensation ever -- a little like the pins and needles you feel when your foots fallen asleep. If this trial model does the trick, then Ill have a permanent neurostimulator implanted in a couple of weeks. Its the coolest technology ever, so Im sharing for those of you who might be interested in these sorts of things. medtronic/patients/chronic-pain/device/neurostimulators/questions-answers/
