“Yet I will have mercy on the house of Judah, will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword or battle, by horses or horsemen. Say to your brethren, ‘Lo,’ and to your sisters, ‘Ruhamah.’” (Hos.1:7; 2:1) The Lord promises to have mercy on His children. Firstly, when the Lord has mercy on us, He gives us salvation. The salvation that Hosea says here is a special one. It prophesies about the birth of Christ Jesus. He says, “I will save them by their Lord their God.” He had anointed kings that they might save His people. Since these worldly kings could not save by battle or by horses or by horsemen, the King of kings came down from heaven to earth, shed His blood on the cross, forgave their sins and saved His people. By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of the mercy of God. Secondly, by the mercies of the Lord, we receive miracles, healing in the body and our daily bread and clothing. When Jesus saw the leper, he was moved with compassion, touched him and healed him. He did not want to send the people who were listening to Him for 3 days empty-handed; He had compassion on them, blessed the 5 loaves and 2 fish and made 5000 people eat to their satisfaction. When He saw the widow of Nain crying, He had compassion on her and told her not to cry and raised her young son alive. Jesus departed by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them and started preaching them. Today, may He have mercy on you. Amen. Prayer: O Lord of mercy and compassion! You have promised to have mercy; you never change in your word. Have mercy on me also, save me wonderfully and guide me and bless me. Amen!
