"You are the meaning and goal of Om, unrivalled, unsurpassed; who can comprehend thee, Oh Arunachala". Chanting mantras like Om makes the mind pure. As a result mind is transforms from malina manas (Impure mind) to Suddha manas (Pure mind). Mind is a reflecting medium. Naturally it reflects well if it is devoid of dust psychological memory which makes the mind impure. and distorts the image which is reflected in it. When mind is devoid of any contents it has the capacity to reflect the eternal. This means mind becomes the Self. So Suddha manas is Self. Even Bhagawan pointed out this. Contents gives a direction and goal to awareness of mind. Anything directed is limited. So contents makes the mind impure. Its mirror is covered with layers of dust of thought. To observe the dust is self-inquiry. Only pure mind can so self-inquiry. In this observation there is no manipulation to change the dust. Just observation is action itself which makes us to understand that dust is false. To know the false as false we are relieved from identity with them and we posit ourselves as pure conscious being. Then the mirror is clean and reflects the eternal because in empty mind awareness false on itself and implosion happens in our being. When we do not give any direction to awareness such thing happens. When such thing happens for the first time we taste the bliss of Self. Om is the creative sound and light of Self. Sound is precursor of creativity which is purposeless manifestation of Self. So creativity is manifested aspect of Self. So creativity is not separate from Self. Some religions introduces creator is different from creation. It brings in many problems. Creativity is a force of non-anthropomorphic truth. So it goes on and on/ Om is the existential sound that is unstruck. Zen people call this sound of one hand clapping. So it cannot be heard with physical ears nor uttered by physical vocal cords because when when vocal cords are struck against each other physical sound is produced. Whereas Om is unstruck and infinite like Self. The sound and light of Om is subtle body of cosmos.
