Despite this, a dangerous and menacing wing of the Republican Party has managed to run roughshod over a weak and ineffective Speaker John Boehner, bringing the US Government to a grinding halt. As a result, 800,000 federal employees will be placed on furlough and one million will be asked to work for no pay. This is the price the Tea Party believes is acceptable for the country to pay to appease their fundamentalist opposition to government help for the most vulnerable Americans.
