#Zhupanovsky #Volcano #Russia On November 7, 2014, an explosive event at Zhupanovsky volcano released a cloud of ash up to 10 kilometers (32,800 feet) over the Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula. On November 8, the ash cloud was 7 kilometers (22,960 feet) high and extended south-southwest from the volcano. The plume was still visible on November 9 when this image was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite. By this time, the plume extended southeast over the Pacific Ocean. The explosion was part of an ongoing eruptive event that started on June 6, 2014.
