#_THE_RARE_ANALYSIS_# Welcome to Mulungushi university, where we now pursue the frontiers of knowledge through rare total leadership. R is for Relevant A is for Accountable R is for Realistic E is for Ethical A deep look at the circumstances that have surrounded our varsity has revealed some interesting facts. Firstly to begin with, what we need to know is that the idea of opening on the 24th of November does not really hold ground. The queen bee was recently on radio and it was quite obvious that government is not exactly happy with the management of the school. Before being subjected to the parliamentary committee, what was ensured was that at least a date is fixed so that Rare does not end up looking like an Irish potato in front of her employers. Secondly, apart from the measures that where put in place before we left for Sweet home Alabama, the varsity has not made any progress with regards to resolving the water problem. When contacted for interview, resident engineer said the reason as to why water is currently running according to the water time table we left in school is because there is actually less demand for it. Very few points are using the water as compared to when students are on campus, therefore this is what has caused the build up in pressure. Other wise the current build up cannot last the institution a week when all the saints go marching in. The conventioneers that shall grace our hostels will actually be outsourcing water, something which is very possible, I mean this is the party of the day we are talking about. An insight on Town campus can also be used to validate the assertion, as most of you may know BIT 2 and BIT 3 do have courses that they take from main. At the helm of the closure, measures have actually been put in place for lecturers to be traveling to Town campus to give lectures. According to sources from Town, the courses in question include Principles of Management (BIT 2) with Mr Mwaanga and Principles of Accounting with Mrs Njebele (BIT 3). It has actually been confirmed by the lecturers that our colleagues will be given separate examinations from the ones that will be given to students that take the courses in question at main. The act of them waiting for main campus will actually put them in the predicament that has befallen the majority of us. A clear hint that should dispel the assumption of closure on the 19th of December according to the current academic calender. Speaking of Accounts, an interesting story has actually emerged from Mrs Njebele in as far as a certain group assignment is concerned. Apparently, an assignment was given to students taking the course and they were divided into groups. But after the lecturer met with BIT 3 on friday, the news that came from her is that a total of 10 groups from main campus actually handed in the same copy of the assignment with incorrect solutions, a severe case of plagiarism by the mass. The development has actually seen all 10 group members receiving a default mark of 0 on that assignment ... and i honestly thought the E on RARE stood for ethical. Well at least like the R, some justice has been done and they have been held responsible. Speaking of town campus, it has actually been reported that the fourth year class of statistics has actually been accommodated on campus, the lads reportedly sort audience with the director for ICT. I honestly would not blame them, at this point i would also do all that will see me having access to school facilities, pantu craming from home bakamba ...... sivintu. So job well done abena Obvious and friends. It can be said that for us to meet the academic calender, when opening on the 24th comes to light, what will follow will be literally weeping and gnashing of teeth due to academic pressure that will see lecturers cruising like motor vehicles made in germany, a Zambian version of need for speed if i should say. Yet again, if the academic calender is not met, the rumors of class resuming in January can actually come to light because immediately after 19th December, the Examinations council of Zambia are actually scheduled to use our institution for marking of examination papers. Another fundraising venture for MU. Furthermore, all members of staff actually go on Christmas vacation from 25th December to 2nd January, an entitlement i am very sure they cannot be willing to forfeit. Like the other R on RARE, this to them is as relevant as water is to us when we are in school. On a slightly different note, if we all that were present when MUSU showed us those disturbing pictures can remember, the union president said we should all be prepared to face the consequences of our actions, this action being the closure of our university. In as far as government is concerned, the university is actually closed, need I not mention the press statement that was circulating on a number of media houses . The choice of Mulungushi university to be the host of the PF convention was induced by our stance on the closure of the institution. The government literally took advantage of the closure which most of us fought for. True, management did not at any point meet with the union representation in as far as the hosting of the convention is concerned. As a matter of fact, management did not hold any meeting with the said party, what someone might call a meeting was actually a situation were management was simply compelled to adhere to the directive that came from the highest office of the land. Now is as far as our hostels are concerned, quite alright, we can argue, we have paid, we are entitled, we have our rights. But the sad fact is that nothing can be done to counter this decision, management has legal advisers, and usually such kind of issues are tabled before a consensus is reached. Management has done its part by informing students, giving us an almost two week period to ensure that those that can manage to collect their belongings carry them before hand. It has also gone an extra mile by offering means which shall ensure that our property is stored safely and properly. Forgive us like sounding like we on managements side, but the truth of the matter is that Like A is for accountable on RARE, it can be very difficult to hold management accountable for loss or even damage of property that may occur during this exercise, students can argue their cases but it can take a great deal of legal representation in order for justice to actually fall in your favor. As you might have already heard, this has already been made apparent by the word that them keep our property will actually be at our owners risk. To cut the long story short, it should be said that it would be in a students best interest to actually ensure that they find means of securing their property. We are talking about an institution that cannot even conduct a simple registration process amicably, and you want to give them trust on your property? We know that there are those who may not manage to do this, but yours should be prayer, it is very difficult for any individual to handle another mans property with the same care that you would handle it with. Even at that, considering the facts that have been highlighted, you can agree with us that there is a possibility of school resuming at a later date than has been given by our management. We are not trying to be saints or angels of perfection, we do not know it all, and we are not forcing anyone to make this their bread, but the aim of this publication is to ensure that you all make well informed decisions. You may not hear it straight from the union, but the fact of the matter is YOUR PROPERTY IS NOT SAFE, YOU ARE THE ONE THAT SHALL STAND TO BARE THE GREATER LOSE, NOT MANAGEMENT, NOT MUSU, AND DEFINITELY NOT THE PARTY THAT IS REPORTEDLY TO HOLD A 1000+ CONVENTION IN ATTENDANCE. GG PUBLISHING. (2014).
