#___INSECURITY___ Before I proceed unlocking the pains stocked in my soul as concerning the word INSECURITY in Nigeria, I plead your indulgence, dear readers, to observe with me a minute silence for over 3million Nigerians who’d lost their lives and about 677,000 Nigerians who are presently deformed owing to insecurity in Nigeria since 1960. Even presently over 300,000 Nigerians are Internally Displaced Persons.. ***MAY GOD HELP NIGERIANS, AND MAY THOSE THAT HAVE FALLEN NOT PERISH IN VAIN*** How I wish you saw the extent my eyes had turned florid, cos of pains emanating from the level of insecurity in Nigeria. It is not a thing of today. It is not about Boko Haram, or Biafran agitation, militancy, emancipation movements or arm robbery, or cult wars, or about several waves of Northern religious/ethnic insurgencies and reprisal attacks; tussle of power among traditional rulers or community clashes that have blown through the country ever since our independence. It is all about KILLING AND MAIMING A FELLOW who you do not have the power to give life or heal. It is about fellow citizens of a country fighting, terrorizing, victimizing and killing fellow citizens of the same country, who haven’t done them any direct offence, but for irrational sentiments that have come to divide us, lives were gulped down by insecurity. I know that the main purpose of a government is to protect the lives and the properties of her citizenry, but I seem not to agree that the onus falls on the side of the government alone…cos what we have in Nigeria is a situation where fellow citizens are against fellow citizens. No government in Nigeria has ever gotten it right to stamp insecurity since 1967 cos what divides us and what incites this violence among us had never been checked. And it had become a tool in the hands of unscrupulous elements in the society to water the soil with human blood ever since the Civil War. On the crucible of national politics today, everybody is lamenting on the deplorable state of insecurity in the country more especially in the North where Boko Haram has been unleashing threat upon another on innocent victims. And many try blaming this government of not achieving anything, whereas there was so much a great divergence of funds that would have been used for infrastructural development on security. So much blatant opposition on the issue of insecurity and less help from those who claim they have the key to security into the National dilemma. I tell you the truth, with the way the main opposition party has being inert to helping in the fight of insurgency, only slandering the government with cynism in order to score cheap points. I tell you the truth, even if the government goes into the hands of the same APC, INSECURITY will rather worsen to a different dimension. Worse still, it is in the corridors of those accusing the government of insecurity that …restiveness is the order of the day. And I have come to ask: what is actually the way to stop further spilling of blood if the sentiments of what divides us are not totally dealt with? How can we move forward amidst several National Conferences we have had to forestall the union of the entity called Nigeria? Friends, time has come for us to know that security is not about the police or the armed forces. It is not about PDP or APC. It is not about the Federal Government or the Religious and Ethnic divides. It is about you and me. We inflict VIOLENCE on others and we are the victims in the same vein. We owe it to ourselves to be safe and live in peace with our neighbors and environment. It is high time; citizens of this great Nation should shun violence and embrace peace. It is high time; we forgive each other for past hurts and work together without preferences of personal interests, religious gains and ethnic favoritism. It is time we, the youths would clasp our hands in prayers for sustenance of this country and join hands together to ensure posterity. Who knows how great this Nation would have been if those that were killed in the tumults were destined to bring glory to the Nation but alas they are buried and they died unfulfilled? The lives of “great fallen Nigerians” shall not be in vain. Security starts from you and the blame of insecurity around you starts from you same So:…. Be vigilant. Be Peaceful. Be committed to the growth of the society. Be Patriotic and shun violence.
