#academyalumnireunionproject – Counting down the years: 2004 – Debut After three years of development as The Academy Brass & Percussion Ensemble, The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps announced its debut season as a competitive unit in the 2004 DCI tour. Their program entitled “Debut” featured music from the world of brass chamber music and their repertoire opened with Alfred Reed’s aggressive third movement to “Symphony for Brass & Percussion”. Morley Calvert’s “Chanson Melancolique” was originally written for brass quintet and was second of the three works. Closing out “Debut” was “Jubilation”, the third movement from another large brass chamber work entitled “Symphony for Brass & Timpani”, by Herbert Haufrecht.
