#amwriting: Some time late last year I had cause to garner some #courage from this song simply by remembering a few important lines about a man who suffered a fire and lost everything THEN got his big break shortly after. I was busy typing away the 5th draft of TOO MANY MASTERS on my flash drive because I feared there might be a virus on my desktop. Then all of a sudden, just when I am close to finishing the last chapters, the flash drive went dead and took ALL my novels with it. It was my moment of panic and massive heart attack. Everything I had been diligently working on was gone. My first reaction was to cry. I had turned my back on pursuing a career in Accounting to follow my dream of becoming a successful published author and in the blink of an eye it seemed over. My husband tried to encourage me but I was inconsolable until I remembered the opening words of this song. Then I got up, dried my eyes, found the song and listened to it repeatedly until I was strong enough to remember the most important thing. It was that: I AM a writer! And a true writer is not made or broken by one or even a few books. So I dug into myself and in four hours I wrote a complete plot and outline for a brand new novel. It surprised even me. By not giving up, I got an idea for another DEEP novel. Then, although I had other great ideas on paper, I began to write it. And each chapter I completed further strengthened me until a few weeks later I stumbled upon a guy named Sheldon upstairs Mangoes in Port of Spain. He retrieved all the information from my flash drive and thats how my beloved TOO MANY MASTERS got completed. So when I tell people that everything I touch turns to GOLD, it is never by magic. It is by perseverance, belief in my abilities during dark times, getting back up every time I fall hard, ALWAYS wanting to be better than my last work, accepting the moral #support of numerous #inspirational speakers; and heeding great writers like the Mystic Prowler who still has the power to reach beyond the grave and steer someone onto the right path through his craft.
