...and gay marriage is the most important thing on our agenda? I - TopicsExpress

...and gay marriage is the most important thing on our agenda? I am beyond grateful to live in this country, where I can live openly as a gay person, and work to advocate for my community. Lately I have seen so much hatred coming from the LGBTQ community towards people who they are very quick to call homophobic. Im sorry to say that we are using the accusation of homophobia as a bullying tactic to shut off any form of communication with those who we dont agree with. Our situation in this country doesnt warrant hatred of those who dont actively support us, even of those who are proudly homophobic. We should be waging a war of love, sending representatives to share our stories with those who have most likely never had a conversation with a gay person. Our challenge in this country is ignorance, the opening of hearts and minds, not murderous homophobia...yet well meaning members of our community are acting as if our lives are in danger from a little video of politicians expressing their (simplistic) party-line views on the definition of religious marriage. I feel blessed every day to have the problems that I have as a gay person in Israel... we should all be blessed with such problems!
