{events of my time} POLITICAL SIEGE IN RIVERS STATE: BUHARI - TopicsExpress

{events of my time} POLITICAL SIEGE IN RIVERS STATE: BUHARI VINDICATED AGAIN It’s most difficult to operate the term, ‘DEMOCRACY’ as a system of government in African continent probably due to its operational definition. The term Democracy, according to simple and conventional definition means; ‘government of the people, by the people and for the same people.’ Indeed, so simple a definition, but how practicable in Africa, precisely in Nigeria? The current democratic dispensation in Nigeria has lasted for at least fourteen (14) solid years now, yet we keep getting it wrong hence the reverse of its operational definition. If the Geographers still hold the scientific belief as we were thought in our Secondary School days that ‘the higher you go into the space, the cooler it becomes,’ would they apply same to the political terrain in Nigeria? I am very sure they will not or else it will certainly be a total disappointment because the reserve definition of democracy as ‘government of some people, by some people and of course for some people, is always the case in this our own part of the world, and therefore ‘the more we advance democratically the HOTTER it becomes.’ The recent politico-ideological CRISIS in the Rivers State took a more devastating shape last week where five (5) LAW BREAKERS were alleged to have attempted the impeachment of the Speaker in the State House of Assembly who was supported by twenty six (26) LAW MAKERS, a terrorist act which many have described as a serious threat to the fragile democratic structure in Nigeria. In the words of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, ‘the protracted (PDP) CRISIS in that State portends grave danger to constitutional democracy and individual liberty. He stressed further that ‘the biased involvement of the presidency, PDP Leaders and the Police in the lingering crises were quite condemnable saying the posture of Mr. President contradicted his avowed commitment to the transformation agenda.’ I do agree, with those who stated that with such scandalous drama, a show of shame in the Rivers State House of Assembly, the ruling party has again inflicted another mortal injury to our nascent Democracy. Another statement that really touched me was the one that reads thus; ‘the Police in Rivers became an accomplice to an illegal attack on the very government and constitution they pledged to uphold.’ Truly it was a very shameful moment that shows the likely partisan role the Nigerian Police will play by 2015 General Election. This write-up was not targeted at both parties in that Rivers political War instead focuses on the wrongdoers who enjoyed and displayed fragrant immunity provided them by the Oga at the Top in Abuja because right from the beginning it has been a WAR of many forces against one Innocent Force and that is the State Governor, Chief Rotimi Amaechi. At this juncture, I want to openly ask these few questions from those SUBJECTIVE HATERS of General Muhammadu Buhari (GMB); from 1999 till date, Nigeria has experienced series of Political GANGSTERIMS like the case of Gov. Ngige in Anambra State 2003-2007 when he was kidnapped and forced to sign his resignation letter under duress, who was behind it? Gov. Josua Dariye of Plateau State 2003-2007 was impeached by eight House of Assembly members who could not form two-third majority in the House, who was behind that? Some of the imported Data Capturing Machines for 2011 general elections were stolen by unknown Arians on arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, under whose watch? Whose loyalist Governors recently told the whole world that arithmetically 16 is greater than 19? Worse still, last week another similar group in Rivers State did prove to the public sphere how figure 5 is greater than 26, we saw the SMOKE in Porthacourt but we do not know where the FIRE was. Then who again was behind the smoke, could it be from GMB? With this most recent shameful and unethical development in the People’s Deceptive Party, Rivers State Chapter, I put it to the public unequivocally that the only People and Generals’ General, Gen. Muhammadu BUHARI has again been vindicated. This quickly reminds me of the other time when the Big errand Boys of the ASO ROCK (Abati & Okupe) went wild against the General for his outright blame of insecurity in the country on Mr. President and his deceptive party. Amongst all forms of their castigation against Buhari was this phrasal one that sharply caught my attention; ‘a serial loser.’ I think before a fighter could be described as a loser in any contest, there must be a leveled plain ground for free and fair election. Have we ever had a free and fair Presidential election since 1999? Please let the duo of Okupe & Abati grab a copy of the late President Yar’adua’s Shocking and revealing speech during his swearing-in ceremony on the 29th May, 2007 as the President elect. On a very good day my brother, with People’s Democratic Party (if we have anything like that) without People’s Deceiving People, GMB will trash any opposing presidential candidate in Nigeria even down to Otuoke Community in Bayelsa State as far as credible, free and fair election is concern. Today in Nigeria, Buhari is not just a powerful force to reckon with but an indispensable Political Giant with undaunted integrity and excellent pedigree. Take or leave it. THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES!
