#fbf.... Good morning race fans, todays Flash Back Friday is just the tune up everyone needs for the rain delayed Freedom 76. Most fans know that Davey won the 1987 Freedom 76 do you remember the winning pass? With the 87 Track Champion #12 MXL Missile piloted by the Late Great Ronnie Tobais leading at the 2/3 mark in the race, Wenger saw an opportunity went on the attack. In the span of just 1:46 the entire complexity of the race changed with the leaders working heavy traffic. Tobias handling on the #12 faded as his tires gave up during a classic 76er green flag run slowing his effort to pass lapped cars. Wenger quickly caught Tobias and went on the attack. Rolling high several times, Wenger suddenly came to the bottom in turns 1 & 2 sweeping to the lead and immediately drove right back to the outside for turn 3 pinning Ronnie behind the slower cars. It was a Classic Wenger move. As the race played out Craig Von Dohren put heavy pressure on several late restarts but to no avail as Davey scored the victory. Bill Bush captured this incredible for our enjoyment. We hope you enjoy this #fbf and maybe your driver will write their name in the record book becoming a Freedom 76 legend!
