“...fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse - TopicsExpress

“...fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” (1 Samuel 16: 1). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. After Saul’s rejection as King, God instructed Samuel to go and anoint a new King for Israel. Saul was the past that God was no longer interested in; Davids kingship was the future that God wanted to make happen; Samuel was the man who God needed to use and bring the future to reality. Before Samuel could execute the future that God already orchestrated, he needed more oil. Between the painful past and the blissful future, God needed changes in Samuel; between the yesterday that should be forgotten, and the future that would forever be remembered, God needed to transform Samuel. Something about Samuel increased before he could make the future a reality. Friend, between the past and the future of your dreams, God wants to transform you. God wants to transform your behaviour, lifestyle, attitude, aptitude, zeal, passion, vision, focus, etc before you can step into the future He wants to make manifest. There are skills you may need to acquire or improve, there is a level of competence you don’t have now that you need to attain, there are areas where you need to grow before God will allow some ‘futures’ to be made manifest. If you meet your future the same way you have been in your past, you may not activate or access it. If you remain the way you are, without increasing in the areas where you should increase and improve, you might be too outdated for your future when it arrives. The oil was a qualification that Samuel needed for the future, and he got it before approaching the future. Get the right qualification your future needs before stepping into the future. If God can transform you, He will give you a future. Pray With Me: Lord, transform me and make me fit for the future, in Jesus’ name. Have A Splendid Sunday.
