{from Mandy B.}: My husband has been seriously been considering a career change and on the tip top of his list is turning me into an oilfield wife. Before he takes the leap of submitting resumes and whisks us away to who-knows-where, Id love some insight to what we could be in for. His biggest motivation is making a change that will help us financially. What does someone new to the field typically make in a month? All he reads is how the pay is so great but I want to hear from those oilfield wives who are balancing the books Isnt a lot of that extra pay eaten up with travel and the expense of keeping hubby taken care of while hes gone? I want to make educated choices and Im not convinced the sacrifice is worth the paycheck. He is a blue collar guy who wouldnt be caught off guard by the truly hard work it takes. Thanks wifies!!
