#gaza The news of Hamas not being classified as a terrorist - TopicsExpress

#gaza The news of Hamas not being classified as a terrorist organisation by the EU was a small political victory and maybe only in principle. I hope I am wrong, but I am, as always, someone who looks on both sides of the page. The issues that arise are - do they expect Ezz ad din AlQassam to step away and in turn there is no resistance? (as we are talking about Hamas, I will leave out the other resistance such as Saraya al Quds etc) You cannot have one or the other. So, this is not something that is a great move as is seen. In time, will they pressure Hamas to disarm AlQassam....this is the politics at play and we do not know the reality as yet...this move tells us nothing concrete as such, and I can see that problems may arise in the future. I am not saying that Hamas will disarm AlQassam but I am saying that for an international political platform - there will be a price to pay. Why did they choose to do this now? What is the significance? Timing is everything in politics... Is this a way to open the doors to the EU, get everyone comfortable and then they will find some way to close the door shut again? (although how open the door actually is remains unknown). This is a step that must be played carefully and not to the detriment of the freedom of all Palestinian lands. I am waiting for the hidden hole in the ground with this move, and believe you me, there is one. This is a game of politics and nothing more or less. If they cannot take from us by force, they will surely try to take from under the table. This in no way whatsoever discredits Hamas at all - if anything, it is just to highlight that we must not be complacent, we must be careful, and understand that there are other powers at work here.
