@gnpplus #PHDP Curriculum for #Jamaica for #PLHIV #Highlight DAY TWO Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention (PHDP) From the perspective of people living with HIV, Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention involves the following: a supportive legal and policy environment; focusing on holistic health promotion, not only on transmission prevention; tailored to setting, key populations, and to the individual; defined by people living with HIV. GNP+ aims to further develop the concept of Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention through regional consultations and operational research. DAY TWO started with a review of Day One as discussion surrounded Positive Health as a PLHIV Leader. The group of four presented on PLHIV Leaders, Positive Health and Self-Care to include ●Five Challenges and opportunities to self-care as a PLHIV Leader ●Five Skills or actions that an individual PLHIV can take to promote self-care ●Five Skills or actions that peers or PLHIV networks can take to promote self-care among PLHIV leaders ●Five Skills or actions that other organizations and donors could take to promote self-care among PLHIV leaders After that Dr. Sharlene Jarrett had a session in PLHIV Leaders, Loss and Grief which concluded the first half of the session. Grief was describe as an “intense sorrow, physical, mental and emotional suffering from loss” BUT “grief is a reaction to loss”. Conceptual Framework was based upon the Kübler-Ross Grief Cycle who is Psychiatrist Elizabeth Kübler-Ross in 1969, introduced what became as the “five cycle of grief” Denial (Avoidance, confuse, shock fear) Anger (frustration) Bargaining (reaching out to others) Depression(helplessness) Acceptance (exploring options) The second half of the session was focus on Disclosure ●What is disclosure and its different levels ●Exploring disclosures ●Synthesizing our criteria for disclosure ●Tools for disclosures Disclosure was defined as to making confidential information be known to others. The levels of disclosure were non- disclosure, partial- disclosure and full- disclosure. In non- disclosure we will find that PLHIV do not tell anyone about their status and just health care provider would know their status. Partial- disclosure will be when only a few individual would know like friends or family and full- disclosure would be coming on media or radio to make a public disclosure. The day wrap up with a evaluation for of second half and we look forward for Day Three.
