#greenwashedenergydevelopmentisnotasolution I live in a community where our river has been dammed with 6 hydroelectric plants. Salmon, our major food staple no longer run (removed along with the people from the rivers) and the promises from PG&E to instill fish ladders have yet to be fulfilled. Where Wind Energy Turbines are installed on a sacred Eagle Nesting Ridge (and gathering place), where the Pit River Tribe has been in a legal battle with Calpine Energy Corporation for almost 10 years, fighting geothermal energy development threatening our sacred Medicine Lake Highlands. We dont have fossil fuel extraction or mountain top removal (as of yet) but these so called green energy extractions that are pushed as current energy solutions are just as harmful and pollute our sacred lands and waters. In the past year without information on how it affects neighboring Indigenous communities, nearby tribes have bought into the California carbon offset systems, (Carbon Trading scams) as insurance buffers. Tribes have now resorted to selling of the air and water, seemingly not aware of the life changing impacts it will have on our future generations. It is beautiful to see so many Indigenous Peoples standing together, but where is the community education applied on a local tribal level?
