...has a funny story to tell. A couple of months ago, the mailman left a note on one of the envelopes he delivered asking that we replace our mailbox. He was right... it was old and the door was held on by one hinge. About a week later, he wrote another note. We went to Central Tractor and bought the biggest damn mailbox they make and I put it up the next day. We decided on the biggest mailbox so that we could receive boxes without fear of being stolen or getting wet. All was good. Not even a week after the new mailbox was up, a farmer comes down the road towing a big ass disc/rake behind his tractor and clobbers the new mailbox hard enough to crush the side and bend the shit out of the door. WTF? This mailbox cost $50 and all I get out of it is a week? I went out with a screwdriver, a pair of pliers, a hammer and some channel locks and got the door to work a little. If you pushed hard on it, it would close. If not, the door would fall open. The wind out here can be ferocious at times. And with the mailbox door only working part time, the door would be open when we got home from work, and no mail inside. There was no way to tell if we had mail that day or not. I tweaked the door some more, but it still isnt right. Which brings us to today. Come home from work and the power has been shut off. Neither of us saw a bill or shut off notice. We call the power company and they say we were past due. I saw the light a bunch of years ago and bought a generator. And the next time I see that farmer with the disc/rake, I am going to egg his tractor.
