#huskyrant: Stop preaching about how the Greek system sucks or how your life has become so much more meaningful because of your willingness to be diverse and live in the dormitories. The very act of moving out into a dorm from a fraternity literally means jack shit, and if that act is all it took to change into such a better person, then I really question this individuals resolve in life. The Greek system has its fundamental tenets of pursuing a different community within a university and contrary to some, it is equally as multifarious an experience as it would be in the dormitories. I would argue that dorm students are, in fact, equally as guilty as certain Greek members of eschewing arrogance and pompous attitudes. Ive seen many dorm students who think they are better than Greeks simply because they think Greek life is self destructive, Greek life is for sluts and douches, Greek life is for kids who wanna party all day. No, Greek life is for students who want to immerse themselves in a lively brother/sisterhood, students who want to enjoy social events to endure academic torture, and for students who are ready to deal with the ridiculous stigma that surrounds the Greek community as hapless rich kids who rage all day. Sure, some of us dont always respect others and I definitely acknowledge my own flaws, but who are you to suggest that Greek life is horrible and Greeks are shitty people? Quit hating on us, we love everyone and we love UW.
