...in expounding Scripture we must take notice of, and improve, not only that which is the main scope and sense of a verse, but of the words and phrases, by which the Spirit chooses to express that sense, which have often a very useful and instructive significance. The differences observable in the Scriptures are of a friendly kind; would to God that our differences were of the same kind!~~Matthew Henry ~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is why I refrain from arguments with other believers over context of a passage or verse. If they dont see the same thing Im given to see, thats between them and God--not them and me (Rom. 14:4). Rightly dividing the Word of Truth (II Tim. 2:15) to me is a much more worthwhile redemption of time (Eph. 5:16; Col. 4:5) than to entertain ideas that my interpretation, or anyone elses, is correct to the exclusion of any other because of what is plainly stated at II Peter 1:20. If someones measure of faith happens to be different than my own, that is also between them and God (Rom. 12:9), and the charitable thing for me to do, rather than wasting redeemable time by trying to argue others to a persuasion I already fully have (Rom. 14:5), is to have my measure of faith to myself (Rom. 14:22). We can only share what we are given to share with others (Acts 4:20). We are not responsible for whether it is received or rejected, only for sharing. And God doesnt expect us to take on that--or any--responsibility which is solely His prerogative.
