Being open and aware also makes us vulnerable, not only to what goes on within ourselves but also to the sufferings that go on within the world and those around us. Intelligence, creativity, spiritual awareness and intuition certainly have their pros and cons; and knowing oneself and others deeply often means knowing more than one can handle.
