#irishwater #mediaspin #sinisterfringe Hatchet job from TheJournal.ie. Where to begin: - Notice how the discussion is limited to yes or no questions - Paul Murphy isnt allowed put the protests into a broader context - How this is almost an interrogation, and the line of questioning completely one-sided - Notice how the responsibility for being peaceful (a distorted definition of the word) is completely on the protesters. The gardai wouldnt have been there if not for the protest, they brought it on the themselves, and the protest itself - a sit down blocking the Tánaiste - is implied as being an act of violence. Dont let the media define the discussion for us! Lets disrupt their divisive and distracting narratives by asking questions like what about the systematic violence of this society? and what about the garda brutality which youre ignoring?. Their trick is to pick one thing, blow it out of proportion, on focus on that all day. This works by putting us on the defensive no, no, it was peaceful, when in fact the establishment and their defenders are the ones who should be on the backfoot making excuses for themselves. Garda brutality, ah sure, goes with the job, bad apples, what did you expect? Brick bouncing off a garda car, a water balloon hitting Joan Burton, how dare you be so violent, you should apologise, do you condemn these people, was this peaceful, have a sinister fringe taken over?
