(iv) Why halogens are so reactive? Ans; The reactivity of non-metals depends on the value of electron affinity and electronegativity. Higher the electron affinity and electronegativity, higher will be the reactive non-metal. Halogens are at the extreme right of the periodic table and have high electron affinity and high electronegativity. therefore halogens are reactive non-metals. They have greater tendency to accept electrons and are strong oxidizing agent, which decrease down the group. All they form ionic bonds with alkali metals
