#nctm #nmctm The Murie Science and Learning Center and Alaska Geographic offers field courses for STEM Educators ... info below Teachers that attend our field courses help us share park science and an appreciation for public lands. These Alaska Geographic funded scholarships provide financial support to teachers wishing to attend our courses in Denali. These field-based courses are small group intensives that expose teachers to science, research, and educational opportunities. We use the wilderness of Denali as our classroom. Most courses overnight at a remote field camp and venture each day on educational hikes and activities. These are not your ordinary teacher courses! Information about these courses can be found at our Field Courses page or by clicking on any of the specific courses below. Courses that are exclusively designed for teachers are noted with this symbol: Teacher icon. All courses include optional professional development credit. The scholarship award covers 75% of the tuition. To assist teachers and school districts from remote Alaskan schools, the scholarship committee will also award several scholarships that cover 100% of the tuition and provide a $400 travel stipend. The scholarship program is only available to full-time k-12 teachers within the United States. The 2014 Teacher Scholarships will be awarded in December. All full-time teachers are encouraged to apply. Applications are evaluated on the applicants anticipated use of the subject matter in a creative and practical manner. The application deadline is Monday, December 16, 2013.
