...on relating...if there is a word that I give you, and you have - TopicsExpress

...on relating...if there is a word that I give you, and you have no idea about the definition or meaning of that word, you will not know exactly how to feel about it. For example, if I say "Flimpackerous", you have no feelings toward that word (other than possibly confusion or curiosity) and so you will need more information about it to come to a conclusion. But if you KNOW the meaning, you will have a preconceived notion about it as soon as you hear it, and will then project those feelings/notions onto whatever context I use the word in. With people it is the same...if I first meet someone, and I have already judged them by how they look, what I may have heard about them from friends (or especially their enemies), etc., then I am not giving that person a chance to define themselves for me, as I have already defined them somewhat in my mind already. I would much rather meet someone and learn about them from THEM, and not from how others perceive them (including myself). This is also true of any situation I may find myself in...how I define it (good, bad, or indifferent) will ultimately decide on how I get through it. Keep an open mind and heart for others/events so you may fully experience them in the moment, and not pre-judge them by past thoughts or ideas. Try not to define and label them before you have had the chance to immerse yourself in them. Peace and love. =)
