#romeburns tonight is brought to you by Bow Ties Two to three mornings a week the parking lot at local coffee shop Republic Coffee is full of Bow Ties. Car enthusiasts know this means Chevy. And Im a Ford guy. The Memphis Police Departments TAC Team all drive BIG, Black Chevys. They are BIG, and dresses in Black and they get out of their Chevys and go in to get a cup and eat a bite. For as much as this coffee house is known for its coffee, its bacon, 5x Memphis Magazine and Memphis Flyer, Best Coffee House winner. It is known for not having any parking. So there have been folks a bit miffed some mornings about this wall of bow ties. For every one though, there are 15 women working at that address who like and feel comforted by having those guys around. There is a community service being performed. There are rules about food. Never eat at a buffet with an empty parking lot, is one. Look for where the cops eat, is another. Republic Coffee has a policy about emergency respondents, military, vets, students, park members on and on, they get discounts of a sort or another. Nothing the place has to do, but community service should be honored. They are encouraged to dine there. This past week they stopped coming. There is a rule that no more than 2 vehicles can be at an address when not on a call. A customer who felt intimidated by the constant police presence filed a complaint with the department. A customer who it seems in truth talked smack to guys you dont talk smack to. Took the cowards way out and went to the suits. I wont cast aspersions, but I wonder what he had to hide that he cant take cheery guys with guns having coffee? If anyone reads this and wants to pass it on to the members of that team. Let them know they are welcome to fill the parking lot of Republic Coffee anytime they like. Or the lot out back. Or the side street. And if anyone wants to pass this along to the coward, all the spaces are full now, every one of them. No street parking, no side lot, all those spaces out back are reserved. Test this and youll wish you were on better terms with those emergency responders. Stupid Rules, Stupid People, Im not talking about ignorant, because you cant teach stupid. #romeburns
