#sharethelex FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Lexington Diner Donates Proceeds to Wild Fig Book Store Following Break In LEXINGTON, KY – On December 27th thieves broke into the Wild Fig Bookstore, smashing the plate glass front door and taking money and books. For the bookstore that just turned 4 years old and has been struggling to keep their doors open, this was a tough blow. Fortunately, the community reached out to show love and support. Customers and other businesses sharing the same strip showed up to help clean up the mess. Then, the owners heard from another small local business who wanted to help out, financially. They heard about the break in through social media . Lexington Diner owners, Ranada West-Riley and Karin West-Riley will donate a percentage of their sales to Wild Fig Book Store on Thursday January 8, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Chef Ranada West-Riley has recently been featured on Food Network, Secrets of Bluegrass Chefs, and in numerous state and local publications and television appearances. The Wild Fig Bookstore, the sole minority owned bookstore in Lexington. Owner, Crystal Wilkinson is the award winning author of Blackberries, Blackberries and Water Street and currently serves as Appalachian Writer in Residence for Berea College. Her partner, Ronald Davis, in addition to managing the bookstore, is an artist. His most recent work includes dust jacket covers for published book. 15% of all sales between 7AM and 3PM on Thursday the 8th.
