#stlwx #mowx #ilwx #stl Patchy light rain and sleet continues in a fairly narrow band that stretches along the Missouri River into metro STL and then into southwest Illinois. Temps are just above freezing so any slick spots will be limited to a brief time under the heavier sleet showers...most roads will simply remain wet. The longer term forecast into the weekend is cold and wet. A strong weather system will finally kick out of the southwestern US and spread steadier rain and even some thunderstorms into the region from Friday night into Saturday before the storm pulls away early Sunday. I still think there will be a chance for some sleet and light freezing rain as the moisture arrives Friday night...but it will not last very long. Temperatures will slowly rise into Friday morning changing everything over to a cold rain. Some spots could see more than 1 of rainfall by midday Saturday with rain quickly shutting down to drizzle. As the system pulls away Saturday night into Sunday, much colder air will return to the region with a couple of rounds of very light snow or snow flurries. No accumulation is expected.
