#syrianrevolution #women #thereisnofriendlydictatorship #bachardégage " “The Salamia women’s movement is distinct in that the women did not stop protesting publicly, holding sit-ins, and participating in other forms of nonviolent resistance despite the regime’s strict control of the city,” Khozama said in an online interview. “Even when revolutionary activity in the city declined, the women were determined to keep going out, and they motivated the guys to join them.” Although supporters of the current government have tried to paint the uprising as a sectarian, Sunni-Shi’a conflict since its infancy, the people of Salamia, most of whom belong to the country’s Ismaili minority, claim to defy that narrative.
