(taken from Mr Ray Chan with some editing) Singapore (SG) increases the fee of SG-VEP not toll fee. The toll fee is still SGD1.20 while Malaysia (MYS) used to be RM2.90, but now the toll has been increased. MYS-VEP has yet to be set. MYS toll increases from RM2.90 to RM9.70[IN] n RM6.80[OUT] in a 2-way TouchNGo charge which gives a total of Rm16.50. SG toll fee is only 1-way Autopass which charges SGD1.20. Moreover SG has given free 10days pass yearly & free VEP from 5pm/7pm to 2am the following day, free for weekends as well as public holiday. How about MYS??? No... 24hrs/7days a week/365 days a year. SG-VEP fee increases from SGD20 to SGD35 bcoz of the increase in COE. We, as foreigners who uses their roads are charge based on COE divided into 10yrs daily. 1 day SG-VEP is SGD35 and there is no limit coming in or out of SG as long as it is within that day. MYS is every trip coming in n going out of MYS are charge...meaning bus drivers who goes in n out of MYS 3 times a day are charged at RM16.50x3=RM49.50. The more trip they do, the more $$$ they will have to pay. MYS has not implemented MYS-VEP for foreign registered vehicle but it is rumoured that it will start soon...MYS-VEP will charge foreign registered vehicle between RM50 - RM100. (Still not sure whether is it based on per day or per entry) DO TAKE NOTE...SG implement VEP is only aiming at foreign vehicles (MYS Cars, Thailand Cars ) but not at SG cars. BUT our dear country~MYS...is aiming at collecting from ALL (all cars, be it whether its foreign vehicles or local vehicles). This is the difference between the 2 countries... Today, the bus drivers went on strike becoz of the unreasonable toll increase from the MYS side and not the SG-VEP increase from the SG side. Toll rate percentage increase is about 571%. This is ridiculous implementation as it only helps to protect n compensate to crony company like PLUS.
