It reflects a longing for - and break from - the familiar, home, and both the near and distant past. It involves ideas about solitude, hope, longing, self-reliance, dependence, and metamorphosis. Through imagery that combines painting with woodcut, drawing, silkscreen and intaglio methods, she builds series of works in which different symbolic elements encounter and interact with one another in altered, fictionalized landscapes. She creates invented fictions rooted in experiences and memories that involve the uncanny relationships she draws between the familiar and the foreign, the past and the present. When creating, she looks to memories of places and the emotions that are tied to them. Within these theatrical spaces, she attempts to distill and preserve the essence of place, time, and memory.
