..........the damp air and heavy fog that overlays the mountain top........brings a chill to my skin......goosebumps form almost instantly as I step out to the deck.........my hot cup of joe in my hand and my ever faithful pooch.........Mr. Murphy at my side.....I greet the early morning........its still dark out......like the inky blackness of night........causing King Murphy to hesitate before leaving the deck for his morning walkabout..........his ears are perked as he listens for intruders and any stray creature that dares to invade his space............I reach in and turn on the lights on the end of the house........illuminating the yard.........now being able to see, the King leaves his post on the deck and wanders off to inspect the borders of his land.......and of course also to take care of morning business........the waves of steam rising from my cup of joe........bring the scent of the rich liquid get-me-up to my nose.......as if its calling me to indulge of its rich flavor........a sip of the hot java passes my lips and my body reacts with that feeling of warmth and coziness that one experiences with a good cup of joe........I watch as Murphy fades in out of the darkness......sniffing each blade of grass......I hear a noise that seems to be emanating directly in front of me.......its getting louder as what ever is moving through the layer of leaves on the ground is coming closer.............and then it see it.........a young deer emerges into the light.........for a brief second, it stops to look at me and then turns and runs back into the darkness and off to the north..............the King has no clue it was even there as he is hell bent on sniffing the spot where I am assuming the neighbor pooch had decided to mark........I see the sun trying to peek though the fog and darkness and I take another sip of java.......Murphy is now back on the deck.......and its time to go inside....another day is upon us........and all is good on the mountain.....and with that..........King Murphy and I bid you good morning FB!
