(the first info Ive found about my mothers mothers mother) Farmers Wife Commits Suicide December 7, 1905 Mrs Newton Sawin of Armenia (Township, WI), Seeks Watery Grave Last Tuesday afternoon, Mrs Newton Sawin committed suicide by jumping into the Wisconsin River at the Sawin farm in Armenia. The tragedy occurred in the afternoon and the last seen of her was when she was washing the dinner dishes. She left the house after finishing her work and the dish pan she took with her was found outside by those who followed her tracks in the snow, leading toward the river where it was evident she had ended her troubles by throwing herself into the water. A search was mad and the river dragged as much as the ice would permit but of no avail and the efforts to recover the body had to be abandoned. Mrs Sawin had been ill for some time and this was the cause of temporary mental derangement which prompted her to destroy herself. Deceased leaves a family of five children, the youngest of whom is but 3 months old. Mr and Mrs Sawin have been located on their farm in Armenia for the past six or seven years.
