...to all my Facebook friends regardless of your race, color, ethnicity or creed: I would respectfully suggest that we as Americans remember the old time-honored saying-there are three sides to every story: your side, my side and the truth. Were now beginning to get the other side of the story. I would respectfully advise everyone to chill out and wait for all the evidence to come in before you throw a rope around a treebranch and lynch the officer without due process. Reports are that the officer sustained a fracture to his eye socket in the fight w/ Michael Brown in the squad car. Secondly, the Post-Dispatch is now reporting that over a dozen black witnesses to the entire incident have corroborated what we expect to be the police officers justification for using his weapon...that Brown bumrushed him after he had fired shots to wound instead of kill. Take the race out of this incident if you can and try to determine as the evidence comes in whether in fact the police officer was justified in his use of deadly force. Facebook friends: you werent there nor was I. All we can do in this situation is to evaluate the evidence just as a jury/grand jury would and decide whether in fact the officer was justified in his use of deadly force. Im aware that the police officers-both black & white-have illegally jacked young black cats (as Chuck D describes them, Public Enemy) since time immemorial for whatever reason. But we cant make this officer a convenient scapegoat for those sins by washing away years of police misbehavior in his blood. Nor can we tolerate mob rule in the United States of America. Think about it.
