(via Joe Martin) I dont entirely agree with this author, but he makes a good point, that a life mostly on Facebook is a life mostly wasted. We can and do make real connections with people on Facebook, but only to the extent that we allow ourselves to be seen, good with the bad. On the positive side, my perspectives have been broadened by hearing and sometimes arguing (politely I hope) with opposing views. Its one thing to form opinions about topics in private, or with friends who have the same perspective, but it is an entirely different thing, and I believe more valuable, to discuss them with acquaintances from around the world, sometimes with people who dont call English their first language. youtu.be/Z7dLU6fk9QY I try to avoid the trap of trying to make others think the way I think. Instead, I try to understand the perspectives of those who think differently. Some of my friends have commented that I have become bland in the way I express my beliefs online, but I think Ive been clear about my beliefs with my various posts, and on my about page. The goal of evangelism isnt to drive away everyone who needs to hear the truth. It is to come along side others and to share our perspectives with a respectful attitude. Romans 11:14 in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy ... Romans 14:1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. Romans 14:2 One persons faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. Romans 15:1 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Romans 15:2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. 1 Corinthians 10:33 even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many... 2 Corinthians 11:29 Who is weak, and I do not feel weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not inwardly burn?
