#wasteofpublicfunds #Jerusalemtrip #pilgrimagetotheholyland Recently, pictures of President Jonathan in company of some clerics at the holy land littered pages of National newspapers, internet news links and social media sites. He was reported to have offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria among other things. While I am not against the President’s visit to the holy land for reasons reported, I, like other compatriots are interested in seeing Mr. President put his words to action. President Jonathan’s handling of state affairs in the last five years he has held sway as the number one citizen by popular opinion is far from being satisfactory and with the election year in few months away, many are desirous of some positive changes in the business of governance if at least to pacify the electorate. My sincere expectation of gej after his much publicized visit to the holy land is to see a changed gej that will tackle corruption head on, fight oil theft, address the basic infrastructural gaps ravaging the country and the painful malaise of aggravating poverty among others, even if it will be only in speeches and the usual rhetoric we have always been served. To my greatest surprise, I read again that in gej’s usual vindictiveness and show of wickedness, he ordered the withdrawal of the security details of the Speaker of House of Representatives (Aminu Tambuwal) – the number four man in the nation’s order of precedence. His reason? Mr. Tambuwal’s defection to the opposition party APC. Is Mr. Tambuwal the first public office holder to defect to another party? What is Mr. President’s reaction to defections from other parties to his own ruling party – PDP? For how long shall gej continue to desecrate constituted authorities? Given boko haram’s sacking of the city of Mubi in Adamawa State and setting a whole army on flight, is gej setting his priorities right? Is gej being well advised? Does gej listen to good advice? Will gej’s actions in the short and long run promote the peace we seek? I feel gej has lost bearing with the realities on ground as per the demands of running an enterprise with complex problems as ours. For supporters of gej, I urge you to have in-depth review of the President’s actions and decide if he is truly worthy of such an exalted office. He is President and that is his destiny but what President shall history remember him for? Is he the President we truly deserve? May be Nigeria and indeed Nigerians deserve a better President.
