.....while I am at it...... Ive seen quite a few posts from my child-owning friends about this random thing or that random thing. Most of it is amusing, cute and reminds me why I have kids that you can cage, but a few things have been sticking out lately. Saw a parent complain the other day about a teacher allowing a child to fail. Um, what? Last I checked, teachers are there to teach, but it is up to the child to learn. Another parent complained about little Susie being cut from a sports team..... She was worried about little Susies feelings and thought that she should have been allowed to stay on the team, despite the fact that her skills werent up to par. Huh? Work harder, improve your skills or choose another sport. Also love the overuse of the term bullying, and all of the uprising about how we need to stop the bullies! Um....how about we teach kids to stop being pansy asses, stand up for themselves and realize that self worth comes from within - not from other peoples opinions of you? When I was a kid, if someone made fun of my haircut and I came home crying, my mom told me that kids will be mean and to essentially Suck it up, Sally! We are raising a world full of victims. A world full of entitled, selfish brats. A world where ribbons are handed out for participation, no one loses and everyone is just as good as everyone else....and I call bullshit. Work for what you want. Stand up for yourself. Stop blaming others for your problems and take accountability and FIX IT! ...that goes for us women, too. This bullshit about the media being responsible for our poor body image. Read an article today about how Victorias Secret should apologise for their perfect body hashtag campaign. Seriously?? What if, tomorrow, we all decided that the media is a fantasy land full of the top 10% of genetically gifted women who happen to have long legs and flat stomachs instead of a bar to measure ourselves against?? Because I guarantee that those women are simply.humans who hit the genetic lottery, NOT a standard of beauty. So - suck it up, Sally. Work for what you want. Take charge. Love yourself. Spread that love and just go out and do you!! Comparison is the thief of joy, but so is playing the victim.....
