01/17/15 BIBLE PASSAGE: 01/17/15 BIBLE PASSAGE (Rom 13) From Romans: World government are not above God’s authority. They must appease God with submission in order to receive his blessing. The scripture emphasized, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not terrors to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same” (Romans 13:1-3). Lesson: God recognizes various world government as legitimate establishments fit to cater for their citizens; however, they are not above his authority. Leaders of various government are expected to rule with fairness. In fact, the scripture addressed world leaders as stated, “For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil” (Romans 13:3a). Therefore, any leader who terrorizes his/her people has violated God’s law. Such ruler will not go scot-free on God’s last day of judgment, but he/she will stand trial to be condemned to the lowest part of hell fire. Therefore, leaders of all capacity should be careful not to abuse their positions, since nemesis will hunt them on God’s last day of judgment. Any sinner who realizes his/her mistakes and turn a new leave will receive God’s forgiveness and God. Prayer: Dear God, please make our government and their rulers operate with fairness. Do not let them be power drunk and abuse their positions. Let our leaders serve with humble spirit and promote godliness. Let selfishness and pride be removed from our leaders’ circle. Let both government leaders and citizens apply godly fear to whatever they do, so that you can prosper them. Please let righteousness reign in our lands, and let the light of your gospel shine in every coast of our countries. Please keep us fit for your coming so that we can forever enjoy your forthcoming paradise. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
