01/21/15 11:30pm Thank you for your questions about Adam, Monica. Adam communicates with facial expressions and head & shoulder movements at this time. The last time that he had any solid food or Dr. pepper was November 11, 2014. After a couple of emergency surgeries, Adam has gone away from us for a little while. This is very common in severely burned patients. He understands what we tell and ask him, and he responds accordingly, so we know that he doesnt have any brain damage. We can also feel his muscles contract slightly during therapy, so we know that he is not paralyzed. He has just been through so much trauma and he has lost so much weight and muscle mass that he is very, very weak. We have to keep his joints from freezing up so that as he starts coming back to us more, he can work on building muscle and moving. He will eventually go to an acute-care physical therapy facility, but that is far down the road for us. We have a very long way to go on this journey, but we have come so far in just 4 1/2 months! And I just cant express how important your prayers and kinds words are. Please continue to follow Adam on this journey, and to pray for Our Boy. 🙏❤️
