02 November 2013 Teaching… Here is your link for tomorrow’s teaching episode: blogtalkradio/evangelist-larry-walters/2013/11/02/real-discipleship [You may copy/paste these notes or re-write them into your journals.] Grace, Mercy, and Peace are multiplied unto us from our Father, by His Son our Messiah, through the Spirit this day as we press forward…walking even as He (our Messiah Yahshua) walked! Today’s Theme Text is: (John 4:43) Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee. Note: 1. Take a look at the map in the pic files. This was not a walk across town. This journey is over several miles and with planned “pauses” in it. (John 4:44) For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country. Notes: 1. Is this statement being prophetic or did John simply give us the recap over the trip to Nazareth? 2. Mark makes this very plain. No Prophet is without honor except in his: a. Country b. Kin c. House (John 4:45) Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast. Notes: 1. Why were the Galileans so eager to see the Messiah again? 2. Were they remembering His 1st miracle at the wedding feast? (John 4:46) So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. (John 4:47) When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. Notes: 1. Who would you go see if your son was sick and you knew The Miracle Working Messiah was in town? 2. Did this man think that he would be honored by Messiah because of who he was in their society…AKA a nobleman? (John 4:48) Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. Notes: 1. Was this a harsh statement by Messiah Yahshua? 2. Did He belittle the man’s need? 3. Was He responding as One that might be tired from His long journey and in need of rest? 4. Or was He simple stating the obvious…the people wanted to see another miracle? (John 4:49) The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Note: 1. Notice the man’s persistence. He did not care about how he “looked” to the people…He simply was begging for the life of his child. (John 4:50) Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. Notes: 1. This is the 1st miracle Yahshua performed without going to the one who was in need of healing. 2. The man “believed” Messiah at His word and returned home. 3. Many would have “insisted that He came in order to be “certain or sure” that their child was OK. 4. What would you or I have done? (John 4:51) And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth. (John 4:52) Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. (John 4:53) So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house. Notes: 1. Now the man hears the good news about his son and he begins to put the puzzle pieces together. 2. What time was it? The 7th hour would be 1 PM. And that was the time Messiah declared that his son “liveth.” 3. When he put it together and began to testify, then his whole family believed in the miracle that Messiah Yahshua performed! (John 4:54) This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee. Note: 1. Why did Messiah do these 2 miracles “privately” in Galilee instead of Judaea? [There is a snapshot from the Harmony of the Gospel’s by Fred R. Coulter in . It is good to take a look at where Messiah was and where He went on His various journeys. Remember there was no car, bus, taxi or plane. He did not simply appear with His Talmidim on the scene. Each journey came at a personal price and sacrifice. And He had those which sowed into His ministry sacrificially. Each day we thank Yahovah for our ministry prayer and financial partners.
